Pokémon fans, buckle up—today’s Pokémon Presents was packed with exciting reveals! From new details on Pokémon Legends: Z-A and Pokémon Champions to a surprise new puzzle game and fresh TCG cards, there’s a lot to unpack. Here’s everything you need to know from the 22 July 2025 presentation.
🔥 Pokémon Legends: Z-A — Coming 16 October 2025
One of the biggest highlights was the deep dive into Pokémon Legends: Z-A, releasing this October on both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. Set in a reimagined Lumiose City, the game mixes wild Pokémon encounters, deep city exploration, and thrilling nighttime battles.
What to expect:
- Alpha Pokémon roam wild zones during the day—larger, fiercer, and harder to catch.
- At night, enter the Z-A Royale—a ranking battle format culminating in a showdown with Corbeau, leader of the mysterious Rust Syndicate.
- Help characters like Detective Emma and Mable from the Pokémon Research Lab to earn TMs and other rewards.
- Join Team MZ, led by Urbain or Taunie, and team up with unique characters like Naveen (a fashion designer with a Scraggy) and Lida (a dancer partnered with Staryu).
- Investigate Rogue Mega Evolutions—wild Pokémon that mega evolve spontaneously. Defeating them earns you valuable Mega Stones.
- Mega Dragonite makes its debut! It blends classic Dragonair features with powerful flight abilities and a sleek design.

🏆 Pokémon Champions — Launching 2026
Pokémon Champions is set to be the next competitive strategy game, combining team building and tactical battle formats.
Key features:
- Trial Recruitment lets you test a Pokémon on your team for a day—no VP (Victory Points) needed.
- Permanent Recruitment uses VP from Ranked Battles and other activities to add Pokémon permanently.
- Customize your team by modifying stats and abilities with VP.
- Three battle formats:
Ranked Battles – Competitive and tier-based.
Casual Battles – No pressure, just fun.
Private Battles – Play with friends or family.
Releasing in 2026 for Nintendo Switch (and Switch 2), as well as iOS and Android. More details are available on the official Pokémon Champions website.
🎬 Teaser: Pokémon Tales – The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d & Pichu
Aardman—the studio behind Wallace & Gromit—teams up with Pokémon for a new stop-motion animated series arriving in 2027. A teaser trailer is now live on the official Pokémon YouTube channel. Expect quirky humour, creative animation, and heartwarming stories.
🧩 Pokémon Friends — Available Now!
Out today for Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, Pokémon Friends is a charming new puzzle game developed in collaboration with Wonderfy Inc.
Gameplay highlights:
- Solve 1,200+ puzzles to collect yarn.
- Use yarn in the Plush-O-Matic to craft plush Pokémon.
- Complete Friend Quests to help the residents of Think Town.
- Decorate your in-game plush rooms with unlockable furniture and wallpapers.
- Track daily progress with stamp calendars and collect up to 150 plush Pokémon.
With support for five save files, it's a great pick for family gaming. Some features require paid DLC.

New cards are on the way in the Mega Evolution expansion of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, including:
- Mega Lucario ex
- Mega Kangaskhan ex
- Mega Gardevoir ex
- Bulbasaur, Ivysaur, and Mega Venusaur ex—connect these cards to reveal a full illustration!
