Right, this is massive. CD PROJEKT RED has just launched their first official Cyberpunk Trading Card Game on Kickstarter, bringing Night City to your kitchen table for the first time.
Developed by WeirdCo in close collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED, this TCG brings together the world of Cyberpunk 2077, the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners animated series, and more into the physical trading card space. Finally, we're getting a proper licensed TCG for one of gaming's biggest franchises.
Welcome to Night City — What We're Actually Getting
The debut set is called "Welcome to Night City" and launches later in 2026. You'll be able to build decks featuring iconic characters like V, Johnny Silverhand, Jackie Welles, and Judy Álvarez from Cyberpunk 2077.
The core gameplay revolves around putting together the ultimate edgerunner crew with characters from across the franchise, then pitting them against opponents in a fight to become a Night City legend. It's designed for trading card players, collectors, and Cyberpunk fans alike.
Set 2 will expand the game further by fully introducing characters from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. So we're getting the full franchise treatment here, not just the main game.
Custom Artwork and Community Focus
What's particularly exciting is that the game features custom artwork rather than just recycled assets from the video game. WeirdCo is also planning to release development updates throughout the campaign and actively seek feedback from the community.
This approach suggests they're serious about creating something that works as both a competitive game and a collector's dream. The fact that CD PROJEKT RED is working closely with WeirdCo rather than just licensing the IP gives me confidence this won't be a cash grab.
Why This Matters for TCG Collectors
This represents a major video game franchise making its first serious push into the physical TCG space. We've seen plenty of digital card games based on video game properties, but proper physical TCGs with organised play and competitive scenes are much rarer.
The timing feels right too. The TCG market is hungry for fresh IP, and Cyberpunk has the visual style and character roster to make for compelling card art and gameplay mechanics.
If you're interested in backing the project, you can check out the official Kickstarter campaign. For more details, visit the official announcement from CD PROJEKT RED.
The real test will be whether WeirdCo can deliver on the promise of bringing Night City's atmosphere to cardboard. But with CD PROJEKT RED's involvement and the community-focused approach, this could be the licensed TCG we've been waiting for.
