NARUTO Mythos TCG prints each set in a 1st edition and a later, still limited, 2nd edition. The cards play the same, but the 2nd edition has a "2nd Edition" mark, different packaging, different numbered Secret variants and its own Gold cards. Gold cards are the game's top rarity: Legendary cards made with real 22-karat gold leaf, and the ones in packs are individually numbered out of 1,500 or 2,000 English copies.
The game facts here come from Cicaboom, the Italian company that makes the game, through narutotcgmythos.com, its official collection guides, its card gallery and its official social posts. New to the game? Start with our how to play NARUTO Mythos TCG guide.

What's the difference between 1st and 2nd edition?
Cicaboom announced the 2nd edition of Set 1, Konoha Shidō, in March 2026 after fans struggled to find the first print. Its reason, in its own words, was to get more product into shops "without affecting the collectible value for the collectors". The 2nd edition is limited too.
| 1st edition | 2nd edition | |
|---|---|---|
| Card text and numbers | The original | The same cards, same collection numbers |
| Edition mark | "1st Edition" on the card | "2nd Edition" on the card |
| Booster packs and displays | Original packaging | Different packaging |
| Numbered Secret variants | Tsunade, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi | Jiraiya, Orochimaru, Gaara, Itachi |
| Gold cards | One: Naruto Uzumaki (2,000 English) | Two: Rock Lee (2,000) and Sasuke (1,500) |
| Set 1 release (Europe, UK, Turkey) | 13 March 2026 | 26 June 2026 (Booster Display) |
The 2nd edition of Set 1 came as three products, each with its own date for Europe, the UK and Turkey: the Booster Display on 26 June 2026, then the Special Pack (Itachi and Kisame) and the Team Set on 17 July 2026. Cicaboom's roadmap says Set 2 and Set 3 will also come in both editions.

How to tell 1st and 2nd edition cards apart
Look at the bottom right of the card. Every card names its edition next to the game logo: "1st Edition" or "2nd Edition". On Gold cards the mark sits beside the serial number, abbreviated to "1st Ed." or "2nd Ed.".

- Packs and boxes: 2nd edition displays and boosters have different packaging; the Set 1 2nd edition display carries a "2nd Edition" badge.
- Secret variants: the four numbered Secret variants are different characters in each edition (see the table above).
- Gold cards: each edition has its own Gold card characters.
03 · Gold cards
What is a NARUTO Mythos Gold card?
Gold cards are the Legendary rarity, the top of every set. Cicaboom says each one is made with genuine 22-karat gold leaf supplied by Giusto Manetti Battiloro, a Florentine gold-leaf maker, and finished with micro-engraving. Every copy is individually numbered, and they sit outside the normal set numbering.
They come from booster packs. A NARUTO Mythos pack holds 10 cards: one Mission card, four Commons, three Uncommons, one holo, and one card that is a Rare, a Secret or a Legendary. Cicaboom gave the pull rate for the first Gold card as one in every 800 packs. With 24 packs to a display, that works out at roughly one Gold card per 33 boxes.
| Gold card | Set and edition | English print run | How you get it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Naruto Uzumaki, I'll be the greatest Hokage! | Set 1, 1st edition | 2,000 (plus 1,000 French) | Booster packs, 1 in 800 |
| Rock Lee, Loopy Fist | Set 1, 2nd edition | 2,000 (plus 500 French) | Booster packs |
| Sasuke Uchiha, Heaven Curse Mark | Set 1, 2nd edition | 1,500 (plus 250 French) | Booster packs |
| Gaara, "Why won't he give up?" | Set 2, 1st edition | 1,500 | Booster packs |
| Tsunade, Legendary Sitting Duck | Set 2, 1st edition | 1,500 | Booster packs |
| Jiraiya, Pervy Sage | Set 2, 1st edition | 1,500 | Booster packs |
| Kakashi Hatake, Make-Out Paradise | Set 2 | Not stated | Regional Championship winner prize |
04 · Set 1
The Set 1 Gold cards: Naruto, Rock Lee and Sasuke
The first Gold card was Naruto Uzumaki in Set 1's 1st edition, serial-numbered out of 2,000. The 2nd edition brought two more: Rock Lee, also out of 2,000, and Sasuke Uchiha, the rarest so far at 1,500 English copies. Cicaboom revealed Sasuke on 13 April 2026, after Rock Lee.

Each Gold card is a playable version of a card from the set: Rock Lee shares its name and title with the Rare Loopy Fist, and Sasuke with the Secret Heaven Curse Mark. Going by the FAQ's numbering rule, that makes it the same card in a deck, though few players will want to shuffle one.

05 · Set 2
Set 2 Shinobi Shiren: new rarities and three Gold cards

Shinobi Shiren's 1st edition launched on 4 September 2026 with the Booster Display. The prerelease weekend planned for 28 to 30 August was cancelled. Cicaboom planned a second wave for October, made up of Special Pack Design A, Special Pack Design B and a Team Set, and said exact dates were still to be confirmed. We haven't seen those dates published since, so we can't give you a confirmed day. Some Set 2 cards only become playable once Special Pack A is out, so check before an event.
The set's main collection runs to 150 cards, with more rarity tiers than Set 1. The official collection guide breaks it down like this:
| Rarity | How many | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Common and Uncommon | 55 + 55 | Numbered 1/140 to 110/140, in Full Art and holo versions |
| Rare | 30 | Holo, 111/140 to 140/140; one in every pack |
| Rare ART | 22 + 4 | Micro-engraved variants; four are serial-numbered |
| Special, Shinobi, Chibi | 10, 10, 9 | Variant art rarities; one Chibi in every box |
| POP (introduced in Set 2) | 4 | Lenticular holo, 300 numbered copies each |
| Secret | 10 + 4 | 141/140 to 150/140; four Secret variants, 400 numbered copies each |
| Legendary Gold | 3 | 22k gold, 1,500 numbered copies each |

Kakashi isn't in packs. The official card gallery lists it as the prize for winning a Regional Championship, and the card is marked "Reg. Champ." where the others have a serial number.
POP and Secret variants
POP is the rarity Set 2 introduced: four Rare variants printed on lenticular holo stock with a gold-framed serial number, 300 of each. Cicaboom says a new Kimono rarity replaces POP cards in Set 3. The four Secret variants, including Zabuza Momochi, are numbered out of 400.

06 · What's next
Set 3 Akatsuki and what's next

Set 3, Akatsuki, is the first set from NARUTO Shippuden. Cicaboom gives its prerelease and release as early 2027, and from Set 3 the game moves to a synchronised global release, with the United States, Canada, Latin America, Australia and South Africa joining Europe, the UK and Turkey. No UK day has been announced. Like the first two sets, the roadmap says it will come in 1st and 2nd edition.
The headline so far is a new Kimono rarity, which Cicaboom says replaces the POP cards from Set 2. It has shown Naruto Uzumaki and Neji Hyuga Kimono cards and named Shikamaru Nara. How many there are, how rare they are and whether they're serial-numbered hasn't been announced.
In September 2026 Cicaboom also named Breakflip as its distribution facilitator for Europe, the UK and the Americas, with a dedicated UK contact for distributors, which should help supply here.
07 · Our take
Which edition should you buy?
Our take
If you play, buy whichever is cheaper. The cards are the same in a deck, and the 2nd edition is the easier one to find.
If you collect, the 1st edition is the one to hold. It's the original print and the only home of the Naruto Gold card. But don't write off the 2nd: it has two Gold cards to chase, and Sasuke is the rarest Gold in Set 1.
Gold cards are a lottery at one in hundreds of packs. If you want a particular one, buying the single will almost always cost less than opening for it.
| If you want... | Pick |
|---|---|
| The original print and the Naruto Uzumaki Gold card | 1st edition |
| The 1st edition Secret variants: Tsunade, Naruto, Sasuke, Kakashi | 1st edition |
| A shot at the Rock Lee or Sasuke Gold card | 2nd edition |
| The Itachi and Kisame Special Pack or the Team Sets | 2nd edition |
| Cards to play with | Either: they're the same in a deck |
