More about Pokémon TCG: Darkness Ablaze - Singles

Darkness Ablaze singles, DAA, out on 14 August 2020. This is the set that gave Sword & Shield its first famous card, and the reason most people land on this page is Charizard VMAX at 020/189.

Worth knowing before you buy: the Charizard VMAX everyone pictures is the Rainbow Rare secret at 074/189, and the 020/189 is the standard version. They are very different cards at very different money and they photograph similarly in a thumbnail. Check the number. Eternatus VMAX ran competitive decks for most of a year, and Salamence VMAX and Scizor VMAX are the two secret rares people forget are in here.

The Charizard is also a notoriously poor centring card. Copies that look clean in hand often come back from grading lower than expected, which is exactly why the graded ones carry the premium they do. If you want one for a binder rather than a slab, buying a raw Near Mint copy here is the sensible route.

All singles are hand-checked, Near Mint unless stated, sleeved and toploadered. Sealed and graded DAA sits on the Darkness Ablaze page, and slabs across every set are in graded Pokémon.
