Ashes of the Empire for Star Wars: Unlimited, stocked three ways: the 24-pack booster display, loose booster packs, and the prerelease box.
The prerelease box is the one worth understanding. It gives you enough packs to build a deck on the spot plus the extras a prerelease event needs, and per card it's better value than a display. If you have three or four friends who want to try the game properly, one prerelease box each is a far better evening than splitting a display.
For the game itself: two players, a leader and a base rather than a life total, and games that finish in twenty minutes. It's the easiest of the big licensed card games to teach, which matters if you're trying to get someone into it who has bounced off Magic before.
Loose packs are there for the people who just want to open something with a Star Wars logo on it, and there's nothing wrong with that either.
Other sets and the two-player starter are in Star Wars: Unlimited. Everything beyond Pokémon sits in card games.
